Happenings for the week of January 3-6th!!!!
Welcome to 2017!!!
We will have a short week this week, but a very busy week as we will do our computer testing for mid year! We will be testing on Wed., Thurs., and Fri. mornings from 10:30-12:00. Please be sure to have your child here as these tests are difficult to make up! We will be testing our reading and math skills. This week will be a review of story elements, vocabulary, and spelling rules. In math we will aso review multiplication skills for multiplying two digit by one digit, three digit by one digit, and two digit by two digit.
Hopefully we will be able to get outside if the temperature warms up!!! Be safe and stay warm!!!
Happenings for the week of November 14-18th!!
In reading this week we will be reading stories and talking about how to use text features and how to summarize. In spelling we will be working with words that have r-controlled vowels. In language we will work with possessive nouns. In social studies we will finish our tour of the northeast. We will then read and learn more about the population of the northeast region of the US. In math we will be working with algebra and finding patterns. In science we will begin Project Lead The Way (PLTW). This is a new program that involves collaboration among students. Our first project which will last into February is about collisions. It will be very exciting and it is hands-on activities!!
Just a heads up...Next week is a very short week due to Thanksgiving break!!! Students will be released at 12:00 on Tuesday. We will not have school Wednesday through Friday. We will be back in session on Monday., November 28th!!
Happenings or the week of October 31-November 4!!!
This week will be a bit short!!! Students will be dismissed at noon on Wed., Thurs., and Fri. due to parent teacher conferences.
We will continue to work with factors and divisibility rules this week. Please have your child practice multiplication facts at home. The sooner your child has their facts, the easier their work will become!!
In reading we will be reading and discussing story themes. In language we will be working with singular and plural nouns. In spelling our words this week will have digraphs of th, sh , ch, ph, and wh.
PTA will present the movie Angry Birds on Fri., Nov. 4 in the gym form 6-8!

Wow!! This is the last full week of October already! This week will be filled with fun for Red Ribbon Week to show we choose to be drug free! The following are the week's themes:
Mon. "Be Red-y to say no to drugs" wear red
Tues. "I elect to be drug free" wear red, white, and blue
We will be going to Alberta Bair Theater for the play, "Rock the President"
Wed. "PAWS-itively Proud to be drug free!" show school spirit and wear Bitterroot Bobcat colors (blue/gold) and Paws!
Students will given a small paw tattoo to wear with permission from home of course!
Thurs. "Smarties choose to be drug free!" dress smart
Fri. "Sock-it to drugs" wear crazy socks or mismatched socks
We also have school pictures, so don't get too "crazy"
This week in math we are working with factors and divisibility rules! In social studies we are touring the NW region of the US. In science we finish our unit of physical changes. In reading we are reading about animal folktales. In Language we are working with common and proper nouns. In spelling we are working with words that have prefixes.
Students will receive first quarter report cards on Nov. 1st!!! Next Wed., Nov. 2, Thurs., Nov. 3, and Fri., Nov. 4 students will be dismissed at 12:00! Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place on Wed., Nov. 2 and Thurs., Nov. 3rd! Your conference time will be sent home on a green piece of paper on Thurs., Oct 27th! If the time does not work for you, please call the office as soon as possible to reschedule!!
Report cards will be sent home on Wed., Nov. 1st!

Happenings for the week of October 17-21!!
This is a short week!!! On Monday we visit the NILE and learn where some of our grains, meat, and dairy products come from. Please have your child dress warm as we will be outside and in buildings without heat!! Tuesday we show support for breast cancer by wearing pink!!!
We will not have a spelling test this week. In math we are working with factors, in science we are finishing up our unit on physical changes. In reading we will finish our unit test this week.
Students will be dismissed on Wednesday at 12:00!! We will not be in school on Thursday or Friday!!! School will resume on Monday, October 24th.
On Tuesday, Oct. 25, we will experience a theater performance by visiting the Alberta Bair Theater for "Rock The Presidents"! Please get the permission slip turned in! Friday, Oct. 28 is also Fall picture day!!

In social studies this week we will be finding and locating places using latitude and longitude. In science we will study how matter can change. In math we are working with multiplication and learning different ways to solve equations! In reading we will be reading about how people survive natural disasters. In language we learning how to use commas and conjunctions! In spelling we will be working with long e words.
The end of this week marks "midterm". Please watch for a report this Friday about your child's academic progress. Please sign and return the report by next Fri., Oct., 7th.

We have an early out this Thursday, at 12:00!! Teachers will be in meetings in the afternoon.
In reading this week we will be reading realistic fiction, making predictions, and looking for text evidence to find our answers. In language we are looking at sentences and identifying what type it is, and identifying the subject and predicate. Our spelling words are long a words this week. The list will come home on Monday. In social studies we are learning how to find specific locations using both longitude and latitude. In science we wrap up describing different matter types. In math we are adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers and we will move into multiplication and and division by mid-week! Any extra practice of multiplication facts at home would greatly benefit your child!
Please remember to send jackets as the early morning walk can be a bit chilly.

Hello! We are off to a great start!! I absolutely love to teach your child! They are all adjusting well to the "school setting". We have been doing a lot of testing on the computer for reading placement groups. My goal is to help your child as best as I can and to push them to do their best!
This week we are going to be taking the SRI (Scholastic Reading Inventory) on the computer. The internet has been down and is putting us a little behind to get the tests done!!
This Tuesday, from 6-7PM is open house. We will have three, fifteen minute sessions to meet. I would like to meet with you as a gout to let you know our routine and class schedule.
This week we hope to be off to a "regular" schedule. In science we are studying about matter. In social studies we are learning how to use latitude and longitude. In math we are studying place value, comparing numbers, and writing numbers through expanded form, written form, and standard form. In reading we are reading the genre of fairy tales. Spelling words are short vowel words. The list is sent home on Mondays and test on Friday.
